Relish Fraser Coast - The Fraser Coast Food Story

Get ready to see these fabulous Relish Fraser Coast food carts all around the Fraser Coast region soon. This initiative of the Fraser Coast Council's Investment attraction team was announced yesterday February 2nd at the Relish Fraser Coast Agricultural & Food industry Forum held at The Brolga Theatre.

Community groups, food producers and other relevant organisations are encouraged to apply for one of initially 17 food carts FREE of charge via the Investment Attraction team. The Relish Fraser Coast website will provide live details of cart locations and produce available. This will form the beginnings of a live Fraser Coast Food Trail, and chefs and home cooks alike will be able to obtain their freshest possible regional produce needs by visiting the carts around the region.
Naturally Fraser Coast Foodies was pleased to learn of this new development.

Attendees at the forum also heard about the exciting diversification possibilities being considered by MSF, and a new essential oil distillation industry considering making the Fraser Coast its home base. Ray Mountford from Essential Queensland gave a very hands on example of distilling essential oils from lemon grass as an example of one of the possibilities.

Former Advance Cairns CEO Stewart Christie then led attendees through a Circular + Blue Economies overview, which highlighted emerging environmental and permaculture practices in business strategies.

All in all an enlightening forum, and big congratulations are in order for the Fraser Coast Investment Attraction team as well as Fraser Coast Tourism and Events for organising the forum and leading the way into a sustainable future for the food and agricultural industries on the Fraser Coast.

Tom's background includes roles as Head Chef at Deer Duck in Auchenflower, Lychee Lounge in West End, and more recently at Restaurant Two in Edward Street Brisbane CBD.
